This policy applies to the Wishlist Price Tracker iOS app and the services directly connected to its operation.
1. Introduction
Wishlist Price Tracker is an iOS app that lets users add a publicly accessible wishlist, periodically track the prices of its products, and receive a notification when a product reaches the target price set by the user.
The app is designed according to data minimization principles. Only information reasonably necessary to provide, protect, and improve the service is therefore processed.
Wishlist Price Tracker:
- does not require signing in to an Amazon account;
- does not request users' Amazon credentials;
- does not sell personal data;
- does not use data to create advertising profiles;
- does not track users across apps and websites owned by different companies for advertising purposes;
- does not integrate third-party advertising systems;
- does not use intrusive analytics tools intended to profile users.
2. Data controller
The controller of data associated with the use of Wishlist Price Tracker is:
Name or business name:
Alex Amodeo
Registered office or contact address:
Turin, Italy
Privacy contact email:
amodeo.software@gmail.com
3. Information processed
Depending on the features used, Wishlist Price Tracker may process the categories of information described below.
3.1 Wishlist link
When a user adds a wishlist, the app processes its public URL to identify the list and retrieve information about publicly visible products.
No username, password, authentication cookies, or other Amazon account credentials are requested or collected.
3.2 Product information
To provide the tracking service, publicly available product information may be processed, such as:
- product name or title;
- product identifier;
- link to the product page;
- public product image;
- observed price;
- product availability, when visible;
- date and time of the latest check;
- target price set by the user.
3.3 Notification data
When a user authorizes push notifications, a technical device identifier, commonly called a device token, may be processed. This identifier is used solely to deliver notifications related to the app's operation.
The device token does not directly contain the user's name, email address, or phone number.
3.4 Technical and diagnostic information
The systems providing the service may automatically generate technical information needed for security, error diagnosis, and correct request handling, such as:
- date and time of operations;
- request outcomes;
- error codes or technical error descriptions;
- app version;
- technical information about the operating system;
- IP address, when automatically recorded by network infrastructure or security systems;
- pseudonymous technical identifiers required to protect and operate the service.
This information is not used for advertising profiling or to track users on third-party services.
3.5 Support communications
When a user voluntarily contacts support, the email address used, message content, any attachments, and technical information provided to resolve the reported issue may be processed.
3.6 Data that is not requested
To use the app's main features, users are not required to provide:
- Amazon credentials;
- payment details;
- precise location;
- address book or contacts;
- personal photographs;
- health data;
- biometric information;
- advertising identifiers.
4. Purposes of processing
The information described in this Privacy Policy may be processed for the following purposes:
- receive the public link of the wishlist added by the user;
- identify and display publicly visible wishlist products in the app;
- store the selected target price;
- periodically check product prices and availability;
- compare the observed price with the user's chosen target;
- send a notification when the conditions configured by the user are met;
- correctly synchronize the app with the backend service;
- prevent abuse, unauthorized access, and abnormal use of the service;
- identify and resolve malfunctions;
- provide support following a user's request;
- comply with legal obligations or lawful requests from authorities.
5. Legal basis for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis to be identified, processing may rely on one or more of the following grounds:
5.1 Performance of the requested service
Processing the wishlist link, product information, target prices, and technical identifiers is necessary to provide the features requested by the user.
5.2 Consent and user choices
Notifications are sent only after authorization is granted through iOS settings. Authorization can be changed or withdrawn at any time in the device settings.
5.3 Legitimate interest
Some technical information may be processed on the basis of a legitimate interest in keeping the service secure, stable, efficient, and protected against abuse, while respecting users' rights and freedoms.
5.4 Legal obligations
Some data may be retained or disclosed when necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect a right, or respond to a lawful request from the competent authorities.
6. Use of public wishlists
Wishlist Price Tracker operates using a link to a wishlist made publicly accessible by its owner.
The app accesses only information publicly visible through that link. It does not attempt to access private account areas or ask users to share login credentials.
Before entering a link, users must ensure:
- that they have the right to use the wishlist;
- that the wishlist has the intended visibility settings;
- that the link does not expose personal information they do not wish to make accessible;
- that they do not add wishlists belonging to others without permission.
Wishlist privacy settings are managed on the platform from which the link originates and cannot be changed by Wishlist Price Tracker.
No commercial affiliation
Wishlist Price Tracker is an independent app. Amazon, the Amazon name, and any trademarks, logos, or trade names mentioned belong to their respective owners. The app is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Amazon.
7. Push notifications
With the user's consent, the app may send notifications about tracked products, for example when:
- a product reaches or falls below its target price;
- a significant change related to the requested tracking is detected;
- a technical issue preventing proper tracking needs to be communicated.
Wishlist Price Tracker does not use notifications to send behavioral advertising or promotions based on user profiling.
Users can disable notifications at any time by opening:
iPhone Settings → Notifications → Wishlist Price Tracker
Disabling notifications does not necessarily stop product tracking, but prevents the app from displaying alerts on the device.
8. Backend and technical providers
To provide periodic tracking even when the app is closed, Wishlist Price Tracker uses backend infrastructure hosted through Microsoft Azure services.
The infrastructure may be used to:
- receive and validate requests sent by the app;
- store the settings required for tracking;
- perform periodic price checks;
- compare prices against the configured targets;
- manage notification delivery;
- record technical errors and protect the service against abnormal access.
Notifications on Apple devices are delivered using the Apple Push Notification service, commonly known as APNs.
Depending on the service used and applicable law, technical providers act as data processors, independent controllers, or parties authorized to provide the required infrastructure.
The main technical providers may include:
- Microsoft Corporation, for Microsoft Azure cloud services;
- Apple Inc., for the operating system, app distribution through the App Store, and push notification delivery;
- GitHub, Inc., for hosting the informational website through GitHub Pages.
Each provider processes information in accordance with its own contractual terms and privacy policies.
9. Retention period
Information is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law or necessary to protect a right.
In particular:
- tracking settings may be retained for as long as the product or wishlist remains active in the service;
- identifiers used for notifications may be retained until they are replaced, invalidated, or deleted;
- diagnostic information and technical logs are retained for a limited period proportionate to security, maintenance, and troubleshooting needs;
- support communications may be retained for as long as needed to handle the request and document its resolution;
- information needed to comply with legal obligations may be retained for the period required by applicable law.
When information is no longer needed, it is deleted, anonymized, or aggregated so that the user cannot reasonably be identified.
10. Information sharing
Wishlist Price Tracker does not sell, rent, or transfer users' data to third parties for advertising purposes.
Information may be disclosed only in the following circumstances:
- to technical providers needed for hosting, processing, security, and notification delivery;
- to authorized advisers or collaborators, limited to what is necessary for technical, administrative, or legal activities;
- to competent authorities when disclosure is required by law or a lawful order;
- to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim;
- to prevent fraud, abuse, cyberattacks, or security risks to the service and its users;
- as part of a potential reorganization, merger, acquisition, or business transfer, in compliance with applicable law and with appropriate notice to data subjects.
11. International transfers
Some technology providers used to deliver the service may operate or use infrastructure in countries other than the user's country.
Where processing involves transferring personal data outside the European Economic Area, the safeguards required by law are adopted where applicable, such as:
- adequacy decisions adopted by the European Commission;
- standard contractual clauses;
- supplementary technical and organizational measures;
- other transfer mechanisms recognized by applicable law.
12. Information security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are adopted to protect information against:
- unauthorized access;
- accidental loss;
- alteration;
- improper disclosure;
- destruction;
- unlawful use or use inconsistent with the stated purposes.
Depending on the nature of the service, measures may include:
- encrypted transmission over HTTPS;
- infrastructure access controls;
- separation of development and production environments;
- recording and reviewing technical errors;
- updating software components;
- limiting the data processed;
- backup and recovery procedures, where applicable.
However, no computer system can guarantee absolute security. If an incident poses a significant risk to users, the measures required by applicable law will be taken.
13. Use by minors
Wishlist Price Tracker is not designed to intentionally collect children's personal data and does not offer features specifically aimed at minors.
Minors must use the app in accordance with the age limits established by the laws of their country and, where necessary, with a parent or guardian's permission or supervision.
If the controller becomes aware of unauthorized processing of a minor's personal information, reasonable steps will be taken to delete it.
14. User rights
Where provided for by applicable law, users may request:
- confirmation that personal data concerning them is being processed;
- access to their personal data;
- rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- erasure of data;
- restriction of processing;
- objection to processing based on legitimate interest;
- data portability, where applicable;
- withdrawal of consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal;
- information about safeguards adopted for any international transfers;
- lodging a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
In Italy, the competent supervisory authority is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (Italian Data Protection Authority). Users may also contact the competent authority in the European country where they live, work, or believe an infringement has occurred.
How to exercise your rights
To submit a request, contact the controller at:
The request must contain enough information to understand its subject and, where necessary, verify that it comes from the data subject.
A response will be provided within the time limits established by applicable law. For particularly complex, numerous, manifestly unfounded, or excessive requests, the conditions and extensions permitted by law may apply.
15. Automated decision-making and profiling
Wishlist Price Tracker automatically compares the observed price with the target price set by the user.
This comparison is used solely to determine whether to send a notification and does not produce legal effects or similarly significant consequences for the user.
The app does not use automated decision-making to assess users' financial reliability, personal preferences, behavior, health, location, professional performance, or other characteristics.
No advertising profiling is performed.
16. Website
The official Wishlist Price Tracker website is published through GitHub Pages to provide information, support, and access to this Privacy Policy.
The website does not intentionally use:
- advertising systems;
- commercial tracking pixels;
- profiling tools;
- marketing cookies;
- user registration forms.
The hosting provider may nonetheless automatically process technical data, such as IP addresses and request logs, for security, operation, and infrastructure protection purposes, in accordance with its own terms and policies.
Links to external websites are provided for convenience. Once a third-party website is opened, its data processing is governed by the policy of the party operating that website.
17. Changes to the Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect:
- changes to app features;
- changes to technical infrastructure;
- addition or removal of providers;
- changes in the law;
- improvements to the description of processing activities;
- new security measures or new ways to exercise rights.
The updated version will be published on this page with a new update date.
